Daiwa Airity, monochrome thoughts and colorful dreams

Daiwa Airity, monochrome thoughts and colorful dreams

No, it is not a disguised advertisement for Daiwa Airity, neither rod nor reel. It's a short confession of getting out of the monochrome of some personal preconceptions linked, even welded I might say, to Steez rods and reels. Whether it's from the monochromy of the Daiwa logo, whether it's from the first touch of Steez rods and reels, I certainly have too many memories and experiences in shades of black and white. But, whether we are talking about sensitivity and permissiveness in the case of rods or about smooth running and endurance in reels, for many years I did not find a direct competitor from other brands or other Daiwa models, for me there was only the range Steez and the rest. All the way to Daiwa Airity. I'm lying, actually I'm not lying, I just left it out, The tournament he rose to the rank of Steez in the past. And if we're being honest, Airity rods also benefit from blanks HVF (High Volume Fiber) as in some Steez and braid patterns X45 as at Tournament range. Otherwise it wouldn't have impressed me, would it?

Before Daiwa Airity there was Steez, the one in red

Today's story also has a little red, red light, and red thread. It happened, for real, that last year we were fishing on the Garam river with Cheburashka, elbow to elbow and barbell to barbell with Peter Sztahovits. Me with my old lady Daiwa Steez SVF Compile X STZ681 MLFSA, 6'8″, throwing power 2-10.5g, the one with red (that's what Cristi Albu called her in the precocious youth of both, man and rod) and Methuselah the reel Daiwa Steez 2508, both of an appreciable age, at least 15 years. Peter was fishing with a rod Daiwa Airity 742LFS-S  and a reel Daiwa Airity LT 2500 D, brand new, both with cheburaska balls, soft lures armed on offset hooks, target species barbel. Yes, if you were wondering, and I'm sure you are, naturally Peter caught better than me...

Was it because of the Daiwa Airity rod and reel?

Not. It was thanks to the thread, much thinner than mine, a multifilament Daiwa Prorex with a diameter of 0.06 mm. Well, let's say the right one...and Peter knew better about the river, with barbells. As a short parenthesis, Peter wrote to you here what and how, I won't go into details. Returning to our story, we were fishing next to each other, and I felt that something was not right, the attacks were slow to appear. Initially I put it down to my 0.08mm (I think) or 0.10mm multifilament thread, it doesn't matter how long it was, in short by eye and felt a bit thicker than Peter's. Was it from the weight of the cheburashka balls? Or from the turns of the reel? Or from the equipment... In short, Peter groped the gravel on the river bed much more finely and implicitly had more attacks. At that moment solving my equation was in "borrowing" his price equipment for a few minutes. I could see that Peter's eyes had glazed over at the sight of my old Steez combo, so I baited him: "Look, the equipment this one is more than 15 years old and still holds its own against all the next generations from Daiwa and beyond. Don't you want to try it? What combo do you have there?". Of course he accepted, Peter is a Daiwa fan for life, so he literally and figuratively embraced the history lesson and my mammoth vertebrae, swapping gear for quite a while.

To all the rods I loved before

How was my first contact with Daiwa Airity?? Phew. Leave the thread. Let the reel run smoothly. Leave the release long and precise. Leave the sensitivity blank. It leaves the reduced weight of the assembly. It leaves the shapes and sizes close to perfection, it leaves everything... What I felt from the first touches of the rod is difficult to express in words. Or visually. From monochrome I suddenly went to color, from preconceptions to new sensations, from the past to the future, from the future back to the present. Sudden and so intense in just a few minutes. As in youth at 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 years old. A reader close to the blog comment on the article about Choosing rods for the Danube: "How to choose a rod. You don't choose her, she chooses you." As for me, over 45 years old, I chose Daiwa Airity. After last year's fishing game with Peter (new movies coming soon on F&H Channel and on Youtube, as I used to you) this year, at the beginning of the season, I went to Arrow International and I bought my combo because of it. In the first phase, we tenderly stripped it of its packaging, touched it, took some monochrome pictures and a video. In colors, it will follow... Until then, if you want a thought, a feeling, a state, raise your hand on this rod, touch her, play with her and if you take her on the water, push her limits, you will love her. To the reel I have to turn the crank a lot more before it convinces me that I didn't take it on impulse. Maybe you do it before. I'm waiting for you too here!

Open your eyes
What can you see around?
Wind of the open sky
Over the siren sound

This is a dream
Getting the royal scar
Holding the diamond blade
Throwing it far

Oh
Holding your breath still
You jump if I will
Just sit and wait 'til…

To be continued...

If you liked it, I appreciate any SHARE
