A first episode in a series to follow, "Quantum Smoke S3 Test Rods." After purchasing all four Quantum Smoke S3 models at the beginning of the season, I didn't have any fishing trips with raptors without at least one rod from this range. Whether it was fishing on the Danube, the Danube Delta or lakes in Romania, Sweden and Poland, the rods behaved impeccably from my point of view in all the fishing techniques I used. And there were a lot of them: fishing with gums (jigging and unloading), spinnerbits, gliders, rattlin wobblers and suspending minnows, oscillators and many other lures that I needed to launch and animate.

Having at our disposal all four models with a length of 2.4 m, we were able to fish with lures between 5 and 105 grams at greater distances. A big plus was the control over the fish in the drill, bigger or smaller, salami, pike, bass, perch, avati and accidentally carp that completed the endurance test of the blank. I managed to get most of the fish out without escaping when they had to be quickly pulled out of obstacle areas where you can't afford prolonged drills.

Test rods around us

For our waters, the first two Spinn 35 and 55 models covered most of the usual techniques, waters, species and lures. For larger or heavier lures, the following two models Spinn 75 and 105, I recommend them for fishing with XXL lures for pike and catfish or jigging with heavy weights on fast rivers. My favorite model, which I also called the universal rod, is without a doubt Spinn 35, a rod that accompanied me this year in all fishing parties.

Pros and cons Quantum Smoke S3

Honestly, even if they seem too subjective, I didn't find any disadvantages. They are excellent rods for the length of 2.4 m, sensitive, light, with a strong but permissive blank in the drill and in the launching of small or unloaded lures. In terms of design, I really like it, of course this is a matter of taste. Let's say that a minus would be the price not exactly accessible to all pockets, but the quality-price ratio is compared to products from other well-known brands existing in the world market. That's about it for this first episode, Quantum Smoke S3 launches.

I launch further, I have a better control of the lure when I fish "in sight" on small water, I "feel" more precisely the thresholds near the shore or the boat. In addition, they can force large fish into the drill to quickly overcome obstacles in the water or bring them to a lie. Due to a progressively loading blank, the fish escape rate has dropped, they use thinner threads, and the weight range of the lures I throw has increased significantly for a single rod in use. ”
